The market
How Swedish brands buy bed linen
The market that runs long
The Swedish single duvet cover is 150 x 210 cm, longer than the 200 cm covers used further south. It also dresses Danish and Norwegian duvets, with a little more drape.
Two duvets, even for couples
Scandinavia is the strongest home of the two-duvet double bed, so a Swedish double order is usually a pair of 150 x 210 cm covers rather than one wide cover.
A small pillowcase
The Swedish pillowcase is 50 x 60 cm, smaller and more rectangular than the German square, so it is its own cut.
Sold as cover and pillowcase
Swedish retail commonly sells a duvet cover with one matching pillowcase as a set, with fitted sheets alongside.
Shipping
Getting goods to Sweden
| Destination | Ports | Transit from Nhava Sheva |
|---|---|---|
| West Sweden | Gothenburg | About 28 to 38 days |
| East Sweden | Stockholm, Norrköping | A few days after Gothenburg |
Planning ranges from Nhava Sheva, usually transhipped at Rotterdam or Hamburg onto a feeder service, before customs clearance.
EORI number
Importing into the EU needs an EU EORI number, registered in the member state where you first import, and a broker files the declaration against the EU tariff.
Feeder from the North Sea
Most boxes for Sweden tranship at Rotterdam or Hamburg. Goods can clear there and travel on in free circulation, or clear on arrival in Sweden.
Documents from us
Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin, with export clearance and inland transport to the port handled at our end.
Duty
Trade terms
The India-EU free trade agreement was concluded in January 2026 but is not yet in force, so normal EU duty applies to bed linen and table linen imported into Sweden today, under chapter 63 of the EU's Common Customs Tariff. Once the agreement is in force, Indian textiles are set to enter the EU without duty. Confirm the rate on your product's code in TARIC before you price a range.
Verified on 6 October 2026 against the sources below. Duty and trade terms change, so confirm the current position before you price: European Commission: EU-India trade, EU TARIC tariff database.
Labelling
What the label must carry
- Fibre composition in Swedish, under the EU textile labelling regulation.
- Care symbols, not legally required but expected by Swedish retailers.
- Country of origin, not required by EU law but often requested by buyers.
Labels are built into production to the wording in your specification. Guidance: Your Europe: textile labelling.
Market rules
Rules worth knowing
What a buyer selling into Sweden is expected to have in hand, beyond the label. Each links to its official source. Verified on 6 October 2026.
General Product Safety Regulation
Since 13 December 2024, a consumer product sold in the EU must carry the manufacturer's name and postal and electronic address, and a product made outside the EU needs an economic operator established in the EU who is responsible for it. Usually that is the importing brand, named on the label or packaging.
EUR-Lex: Regulation (EU) 2023/988Azo dyes under REACH
REACH restricts azo colourants that can release listed aromatic amines above 30 mg/kg in textiles in prolonged contact with skin, which includes bed linen and towels. We dye with AZO-free dyes.
ECHA: substances restricted under REACHTextile producer responsibility from 2028
The revised Waste Framework Directive requires every member state to run extended producer responsibility for textiles, household linen included, by April 2028. The brand placing goods on the market will register and pay towards collection and recycling.

Questions
Common questions from Swedish brands
Why is a Swedish duvet cover 210 cm long?
Swedish duvets are longer than most in Europe, so the standard single cover is 150 x 210 cm. We cut to that length and to any other in your range.
Is a Swedish double one cover or two?
Usually two. Even couples typically use two single duvets, so a double order is often a pair of 150 x 210 cm covers. Wider 220 x 220 cm covers are made where you sell them.
Will Swedish covers fit Danish and Norwegian duvets?
Yes. A 150 x 210 cm cover dresses a 140 cm Danish or Norwegian duvet with a little more drape, which is why one range can serve the region.
Is there duty on Indian bed linen in Sweden?
For now, normal EU duty applies, until the India-EU agreement enters into force. Check the current rate in TARIC before you price. Duty position verified on 6 October 2026.
