The market

How Polish brands buy bed linen

160 x 200 is the standard

The most popular Polish set is a 160 x 200 cm duvet cover with two 70 x 80 cm pillowcases, suited to beds 140 to 160 cm wide.

A large square-ish pillow

The Polish pillow is 70 x 80 cm, a cut of its own between the German square and the French one.

Bought to the duvet

Polish shoppers choose bedding by the duvet they own rather than the bed, so the cover size leads every listing.

Shipping

Getting goods to Poland

DestinationPortsTransit from Nhava Sheva
BalticGdansk, GdyniaAbout 28 to 38 days

Planning ranges from Nhava Sheva, on a direct Asia to Baltic service or transhipped at a North Sea hub, before customs clearance.

EORI number

Importing into the EU needs an EU EORI number, registered in the member state where you first import, and a broker files the declaration against the EU tariff.

Information in Polish

Consumer information on goods sold in Poland must be in Polish, so labels and packaging inserts are prepared in Polish.

Documents from us

Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin, with export clearance and inland transport to the port handled at our end.

Duty

Trade terms

The India-EU free trade agreement was concluded in January 2026 but is not yet in force, so normal EU duty applies to bed linen and table linen imported into Poland today, under chapter 63 of the EU's Common Customs Tariff. Once the agreement is in force, Indian textiles are set to enter the EU without duty. Confirm the rate on your product's code in TARIC before you price a range.

Verified on 6 October 2026 against the sources below. Duty and trade terms change, so confirm the current position before you price: European Commission: EU-India trade, EU TARIC tariff database.

Labelling

What the label must carry

  • Fibre composition in Polish, under the EU textile labelling regulation.
  • Care symbols, not legally required but expected by Polish retailers.
  • Country of origin, not required by EU law but often requested by buyers.

Labels are built into production to the wording in your specification. Guidance: Your Europe: textile labelling.

Market rules

Rules worth knowing

What a buyer selling into Poland is expected to have in hand, beyond the label. Each links to its official source. Verified on 6 October 2026.

General Product Safety Regulation

Since 13 December 2024, a consumer product sold in the EU must carry the manufacturer's name and postal and electronic address, and a product made outside the EU needs an economic operator established in the EU who is responsible for it. Usually that is the importing brand, named on the label or packaging.

EUR-Lex: Regulation (EU) 2023/988

Azo dyes under REACH

REACH restricts azo colourants that can release listed aromatic amines above 30 mg/kg in textiles in prolonged contact with skin, which includes bed linen and towels. We dye with AZO-free dyes.

ECHA: substances restricted under REACH

Polish language law

Poland's language act requires consumer information on goods sold in Poland, labels included, to be in Polish, alongside any other language.
